Not Going Home

By

Lance

Lance writes from South Coast Correctional Centre in New South Wales.

Jonathan Kho

When in jail some don’t want to go home, it’s true

Hard to believe, so I will find out more for you

Are the dudes for real, or a screw loose in the head

They would rather stay in jail, than going home instead

Let’s take a close look as to why this comes about

Why they don’t want to go home, when it’s time to get out

Think about it my friend, are they insane?

Maybe packing up and going home is too much of a pain

In jail they have their mates, a bed and all the meals

So why would you go home when this lifestyle appeals

Their time is spent relaxed and nothing to worry about in life
While on the outside, cost of living is causing financial strife

They’re probably not missing a screw or even silly

While snug and warm in bed, others outside are finding it chilly

Jail to these dudes is not a bad place after all

What a life they have, playing cards and kicking a ball

Inmates that want to stay, the real life they have forgot

While others are chomping at the bit and are off like a shot

When in jail some don’t want to go home, it’s true

Hard to believe, so I will find out more for you

Are the dudes for real, or a screw loose in the head

They would rather stay in jail, than going home instead

Let’s take a close look as to why this comes about

‘Love is Rebuilding My Life’

By Phillip

There’s irony, hypocrisy, fallacy, a vast ocean of distance to cross. The “saint”, the “sinner”, it’s lunacy, that the ignorant could save the lost.

Methfairytale

By Karie

I’m not belle of the ball, not the very least, but we have something in common, I’m in love with a beast. But the beast is not a person but a drug that I call meth, I’ve been talking to myself for hours, I’m running out of breath.

Nostalgia

By Dennis

Nostalgia is a gentle haze, a soft and fading, golden maze, where time itself begins to blur, and memory’s touch is sweet and pure.
