Have you ever found yourself at the bottom of a well?
Never would I have thought I’d find myself in this kind of situation. At the bottom of a well, not a literal well but as a metaphor – an imaginary one, given the reality, it’s not too far off.
A paradox is what it’s called, but I like to imagine a well or limbo, gives more space for the physical and spiritual. Hope for a way out by climbing a rope or by repenting or praying hard enough.
I was part of an experiment, one that tested what déjà vu was/is?
It wasn’t even a year in when they found that with electrodes they could cause déjà vu, but it was some years later that they realised the “time dilation” in effect could send messages. More importantly thoughts were able to be sent through time, but as soon as they were sent there was no telling the effect they’d have.
Time-Travel of the mind, in the experiment I was both researcher and lab rat. They sent a thought, “you’re in an interview room”, but they didn’t account for “when”.
I’m still there, whenever I sit, go to stand, even whenever I blink. A virtual PTSD, of artificial thought, but who is to say an artificial memory carries less weight than a real one?
A paradox of déjà vu, until I experience that moment, the room is real. To me it’s real, until time is proven finite or infinite, it’s real, until the probability over time is proven pre-destined or random – to me it’s real.
Have you ever found yourself at the bottom of a well?
Clearly you only have to nominate ‘time travel’ as the subject of a writing competition to get people thinking.
Time, for me, was at first just “the clock on the wall” at high school. When is lunch? When will this test finish? And when is home time?
The decay of an atom indicates that time itself has passed, it is the origin of our concept of time.
Our time machine doesn’t take the form of a Tardis, or DeLorean, yet it does represent an equally large figure in pop culture and science fiction (at least those forced into hard labour on a mining planet colony usually got a spectacular view of the galaxy around them).
