Dear Dad

By

Stevie

Stevie writes from a prison in VIC.

Boom Gate Gallery – 'Father and Son' by Tim, $300, 6401, 40cm x 50cm, acrylic on canvas

I wrote this in 1995 when my dad passed. My mother came across this recently and posted it to me. Then I translated it as best as I can.

Dear Dad

Entering into a trance

muttering words of vines

love stories you wrote were

magnificent and great.

Why didn’t you write

about meaning of this existence

even though you felt

how exhausting that is.

Take your life

and hide from everything

you decided

to be gone so early.

Dazzled in alcohol

disappointed living

was it impossible

finding Enlightenment.

To my dear dad

for your name I

compose this

bliss of Nirvana.
