Oreo Cake in the Secure Unit

Ingredients:

  • 2 packs of Oreos
  • 1 packet pancake mix
  • ¼ can of vanilla Coke (optional for sweetness)
  • ¼ cup of milk (use ½ cup if not using Coke)
  • Butter

Utensils:

  • 2 clean lunch trays
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife and spoon
  • Plate

Method:

  1. Separate the Oreos and set aside the cream filling.
  2. Crush the Oreo cookies to a fine dust and mix with the pancake mix.
  3. Stir in the liquids (milk and Coke or milk alone) until a thick batter forms.
  4. Butter the bottoms and sides of the lunch trays.
  5. Split the mixture evenly between the two trays.
  6. Butter two pieces of paper and use them to cover the trays.
  7. Place trays on the bottom of the grill for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  8. Once cooked, allow to cool.
  9. Spread the reserved Oreo cream on top of one cake.
  10. Place the second cake on top to create a giant Oreo-style treat.

Serving suggestion:

Best served with a cup of cold milk!

Note:

The batter for this cake should be slightly thicker than normal.
