My name is Joeby – earlier this year I wrote about our gym equipment and our access to supplements. Since my return there has been no update or change at the centre.
Our situation in regard to purchasable products remains the same, although it is now more expensive to obtain protein. We can only purchase protein bars and price inflation has risen to $4.75 per bar. I cannot afford this.
One protein bar costs almost $5. If we consumed one protein bar per day it would cost $35 per week.
I cannot afford $35 per week.
I am asking for the prison to please allow or consider us permission to purchase protein powder as this is more affordable and gives us an accessible incentive to get fit.
All other centres in Queensland are run via Queensland government and allow protein powders. We can purchase protein cups but we’re unable to purchase the material to use the cups for their set design. This doesn’t make sense.
Thank you.
