Hi there,

My name is Stephen.

I will write to you and try to fill you guys in with what's happening in QLD prisons, especially Wolston. I am in residential and landscaping and my wages are $30.00 per week, my hygiene allowance is $9.81 and TV rental $2.00 per week.

Last week's menu included:

Boiled Eggs (2) – Tea – Roast Chicken

Beef Patties – Beef Bolognese – Beef Snags

But our food menu revolves around different meals.

If we want a TV, we must rent one for $2 per week. Over in Rec you get a remote with your TV – in secure you don't.

It is 13 October 2024  and most of my unit are watching the Repco Supercars on 7. In my unit there are six single cells – the Common Room has a main TV and seating. It’s Sunday and I am going to watch the race.

Yours,

Stephen

Discovering Buddhism in Prison

By Chris

Buddhism teaches that pain is a part of being human, not a failure. Thoughts are not who you are, change is always possible because nothing is permanent. There is beauty in the idea that peace isn’t something you chase, it’s something you uncover when you stop clinging.
