‘Everyday Feels Like a Battle’: Serving Time Away From Home

By
Deanno

Deanno writes from a prison in QLD.

Hey there everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well.

I wanted to talk a bit more about my day-to-day experience in regards to where I’m at mentally due to my situation.

So I was extradited from my home in Western Australia and taken to Queensland, where I have been serving my sentence.

I have been waiting on an interstate transfer since July 2025. I have been calling my partner back home in WA and have received updates from time to time. Every day waiting to be sent home is affecting me mentally more and more every day.

I find it hard to sleep, I find it really hard to walk past the visits area on a daily basis and see other prisoners having visits with their loved ones, knowing that this will never happen for me until they hurry up and send me back home.

I find myself sitting in my cell mostly all day that I’m not at work as I feel so depressed and alone, and feel like I’m made to just sit in this prison so far from support and my loved ones and suffer more and more everyday.

Everyday feels like a battle for me, being here in a state I don’t know and have nothing and no one.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to me, take care everyone, peace!!

Just thought I would send in two photos of what I have been up to during my time in prison.

Finding information relating to Commonwealth Parole or people able to provide correct advice has proven challenging since I was sentenced.

I am writing as I saw my partner’s article and it inspired me. This is probably my millionth time in prison, and time stands still.
