Changes Need to Happen

By
Brady

Brady writes from a prison in TAS.

Willy Pleasance

Hey, my name is Brady.

I’ve been coming to prison for the last 10 years off and on, and I’m currently in Risdon Prison, Tasmania.

I wanted to write about the lockdowns we have been subjected to and how it’s not getting any better.

The lockdowns are getting worse and worse. Changes need to happen and not in a few years – now. It’s not just max that get locked down, it’s everywhere. All us inmates want something to change, we need help, someone needs to help us by standing by our side and take this to state parliament and then onto the courts if need be.

We have a canteen list where we can get items like toiletries and food.

A few times over the years I’ve sent letters to the bigger boss about trying to put more things on canteen.

A bag of protein 1kg is $45.15, a bag of coffee 180g is $16.66, toothpaste is $9, a 175g bag of chips is $5, underwear is $16.66, roll on is $4, shampoo is $12.50.

We only get paid $27.50 a week – that’s what inmates who don’t work get paid.

All the best.

Just thought I would send in two photos of what I have been up to during my time in prison.
